How long after you make a purchase does the App Store remember your password so you don't have to enter it again? I presume that's what happened in this case.
It depends on your setting. Even logged in, it typically confirms once by asking if you want to purchase that app.
It was cool of Apple to arrange a refund. That should be standard policy, especially if an app isn't even completely downloaded.
For 99-cent apps, I'm less concerned about "try before buying"... when they start costing $10 and up, I think there has to be a way to 'preview' them...

I hope I'm not the only one disappointed that you see an i7 in 3 out of the 4 MBPs, but i7 is only available for an extra $180 in the iMac.
The i5 2400 costs $150 @ MicroCenter, and that's the processor they use in the $2000 iMac!!! This is why people say Macs are overpriced (and they most certainly are). That having been said, I'll be buying an MBA or MBP 13 soon enough.

The other big benefit for consumers is that we may see more product offerings from Apple as the number of macs sold increases. How about that Mac media center everyone's been talking about? Or the fabled Mac tablet?

I'm still not too sure how gestures would work to control such a device unless there was a camera. Have you see the "gestures" video? It would be done by physically touching the iPod. No camera needed.

Here in Phoenix I have not had too many issues. i get full strength signal most of the time and almost always 3g. however there are a few places i have that and still cannot get data, luckily its not often, and usually its in the evening which is probably heavy usage times.
East side of the Phoenix and the outlying areas are terrible. This thing is a brick often! I actually keep old reliable verizon around in case of emergency. Still, the iPhone rocks and I'll just keep it till they open it up to Verizon too!

I tend to ignore my family/co-workers when I talk about this stuff. The Apple bias there is quite evident and I don't expect anything other than Apple stuff there. I wouldn't draw conclusions on Mac market share from them either as it would put the Mac on top of Windows by a huge margin. ;)
I try to be honest with myself because if I looked at them, I would draw the same conclusions you and many others are here and just say Apple is leading by a huge margin, which just isn't the case. I don't have enough attachement to Apple as a vendor to go around cheerleading for them.

I know I'm going to get labeled as a mac zealot and linux apologist for asking this, but isn't it weird how the project spent ALMOST ALL OF ITS TIME looking for ways to crucify OS X/Linux, but they avoided MS like the plague, as if they were afraid to make them look bad?

Have you been reading the recent rumors regarding the next iPhone release? That's the whole point of releasing the white iPhone 4 now, IMO. It's tying people over until iPhone 5, which will almost definitely not see the light of day at WWDC.
IMO it just seems odd for Apple to break from tradition like that and not do a refresh. Who knows, your guess is as valid as mine!

Which reminds me. Every time I've bought an OS upgrade ( for as long as I can remember - probably back to OS 7 ) there has been a set of coupons included to prove that I purchased it. Has there ever been a scheme where customers actually get something in exchange for those coupons ?
I believe there was a coupon upgrade program for 10.0 to 10.1. It was a "free" upgrade that cost $19.95 if you ordered the CD from the online store, but there were some copies available free of charge at some retail locations (this was pre-brick and mortar Apple Stores) like CompUSA and Fry's while supplies lasted. Many retailers didn't require proof of 10.0 ownership as the 10.1 was upgrade-only and thus useless to people who didn't have 10.0 installed already, but some asked for proof of purchase for 10.0. The coupon generally satisfied that requirement (as would a sales receipt).

While I don't doubt that Apple are working on an iPhone that works on T-Mobile US's 3G band, is there any actual proof that this phone is connected to the T-Mobile network in the US?
We have a T-Mobile network in the UK, and they use the "normal" 3G frequencies, so any GSM iPhone 4 would work on it.
